About Us

Born from Vasundhara Raghavan’s deeply personal journey and inspiring vision, the Kidney Warriors Foundation (KWF) was established on December 20, 2017. Having faced the many challenges of kidney disease first hand, the founder recognized the urgent need for a unified, powerful voice to address the concerns and fears faced by kidney patients.

To achieve a truly national status, she brought together strong-willed patients and family members from 12 different states. These founding members – each personally impacted by chronic kidney disease either directly, or through loved ones – share a deep commitment to driving meaningful positive change.

Today, KWF stands as one of India’s leading independent networks of kidney patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals and social workers – all united by compassion and commitment. Through collaborations with like-minded NGOs and active community engagement, KWF continues to grow stronger every day, making a lasting impact on the lives of those affected by kidney disease.

Diversity is one of the greatest strengths of Kidney Warriors Foundation (KWF). Our community brings together people of all ages, languages, and backgrounds from across India – each with a unique story and journey with kidney disease.

Among us are teenagers who have undergone transplants, mothers caring for children on dialysis, individuals who have lived with a transplant or dialysis for over 15 years, and patients who have successfully delayed dialysis through effective management and lifestyle changes. This diverse range of experiences makes our support system truly comprehensive and relatable.

As a representative body of kidney patients, we remain firmly focused on patient-centric initiatives. Every program we design is tailored to suit specific needs – identified through direct engagement with our community.

Connecting Kidney Warriors Across the Nation

At KWF, our strength lies in our nationwide presence. With volunteers in almost every state, members can access our network and support system from anywhere in India.

Today, KWF has a presence across 14 Indian states, with centres based at the state-capital level and extending support to surrounding regions. In the coming years, we aim to extend our reach to smaller towns and districts, through a growing network of dedicated volunteers, ensuring that every kidney patient has access to support and care.

Understanding that every kidney warrior’s journey is unique, our team provides individualized support, helping members connect with the right doctors, hospitals, and treatment options suited to their needs – ensuring care that is both personal and accessible.

In addition, KWF offers patients dietary guidance suited to their local cuisines – with expert advice from renal dieticians.

This unified approach ensures that vital support and care effectively reaches kidney patients in every corner of the country.
