As an independent, patient-led organization, the Kidney Warriors Foundation (KWF) is dedicated to advocating for policies that expand access to healthcare and improve the quality of care for people living with kidney disease across India.
We strive to ensure that every kidney patient is heard, supported, and empowered — medically, emotionally and socially – so that they can live with dignity.
How We Make It Happen
Advocacy & Policy Change
Building a Strong Network: We empower our members to become KWF Ambassadors, forming a robust advocacy network dedicated to challenging and changing problematic Government policies, restrictions, rules, regulations, and every unresolved issue related to kidney disease.
Pushing for Better Policies: We actively reach out to concerned authorities, continuously pushing for improved policies related to kidney disease.
Education & Awareness
Spreading Awareness: We raise greater awareness of kidney disease through impactful workshops, seminars, and organized activities.
Empowering Patients: We support patients in accepting the disease, guide them on the importance of a balanced renal diet with portion control, and educate them on self-monitoring their health effectively.
Staying Informed: We actively keep track of the latest research and developments in chronic kidney disease (CKD) to provide up-to-date information and guidance to our community.
Support & Motivation
Guidance and Counselling: We counsel patients to make informed treatment decisions, whether dialysis or transplant, based on their individual health condition, age, and associated factors.
Creating Support Systems: We build vital patient support networks and groups across the country, with a special focus on reaching patients in small towns and rural areas.
Motivating Change: We motivate with inspiring patients’ stories, shifting the focus from despair to hope. Encouraging Dialogue: We encourage patients to talk openly about their experiences. This essential step helps raise awareness of the financial, social, and psychological needs of the entire Kidney Patient Community.
Engagement Activities: We organize regular patient engagement programs across the country to foster connection and build a sense of community.
Our Vision
Advocacy: A Voice That Creates Change
Advocacy is at the heart of our mission at Kidney Warriors Foundation (KWF). It is the platform that ensures our voices are heard — by policymakers, healthcare leaders, and society at large. Through strong advocacy, we bring to the attention of central and state governments the real challenges faced by people living with CKD.
Our goal is to influence and simplify policies, ensuring that rules and regulations related to dialysis and transplants truly serve patients’ needs. KWF aims to act as a bridge between the government and private sector, facilitating Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives that strengthen kidney care services across the country.
With a unified national voice, we work to encourage the creation of standardized treatment protocols, promote accessible and affordable healthcare, and advocate for low-cost medications that can ease the financial burden on patients and their families.
For too long, the voices of kidney patients have been overlooked, and policies have been shaped without truly understanding their needs. KWF is changing that — empowering patients, amplifying their experiences, and ensuring their perspectives drive real change.

Insurance
Toward Fair and Inclusive Coverage
Health insurance remains one of the biggest challenges faced by kidney patients and donors in India. Many insurance providers still exclude or restrict coverage for individuals associated with CKD, leaving patients without adequate financial protection.
At KWF, we are actively working toward meaningful breakthroughs in this space. Our goal is to collaborate with insurers and policymakers to design dedicated insurance schemes tailored to the needs of kidney patients — a change that has been long awaited by the community.
These initiatives aim to make insurance accessible, fair, and inclusive, ensuring that no kidney warrior is left vulnerable simply because of their medical history.
Employment
Employment is a critical aspect receiving our urgent attention, as it is key to instilling a vital feeling of security among patients and their families.
Too often, CKD patients are unfairly judged or denied opportunities simply due to a lack of understanding of the disease by employers. KWF is committed to changing this mindset, advocating for inclusive work environments and supporting patients in finding employment opportunities that respect their health needs.
